Our Mission

Anyone fortunate enough to have called Dan Zolotorofe a son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, or friend knows that Dan was a genuine, smart, unique individual who lived every day to the fullest. Dan was the type of person who went out of his way to befriend everyone and anyone. Throughout his life, Dan never lost an old friend, but continued to add new ones. Dan had an unforgettable sense of humor, he was outgoing, and kind to every person he encountered. However, he was never fearful or afraid to be himself, or to share his opinions.

Because Dan was such a great man, I knew we had to do something to honor his memory, and thus, The DZ Foundation was created.

The Foundation will raise funds (a) to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s effort to find a cure for this disease that took Dan’s life; and (b) to award a $500 scholarship in Dan’s name to a graduating Mahwah High School senior each year.

The Foundation will host events, sell wristbands, cookbooks, t-shirts, and other items to raise funds, and will maintain this website as a public forum for the many who loved Dan to share their stories and memories.

We thank you for your continued support and for helping us keep Dan's memory alive forever.

                                                                                     With love,
